Buckhorn Community Centre

The Buckhorn Community Centre is an independently owned and operated Community Centre. Please contact the Buckhorn Community Centre direcetly for information regarding the available rental facilities, events and programs.Fully licensed by the AGCO. Two large, one small conference rooms. East Banquet Room/Gym has 323 seat capacity with a dance floor, West Banquet Room has a 225 seat capacity with a dance floor. Banquet rooms can be combined. 2 fully equipped independent kitchens, ample paved parking. Cover patio, seasonal garden with a water feature, 11 outdoor pavilions. Wheelchair accessible. Baseball diamond, home of the Buckhorn Outdoor Rink/Sportspad. Sorry, no "Jack and Jill" showers.

Oak Shores Estates Community Centre
1305 Northern Avenue, Little Bald Lake, off County Road 36 midway between Bobcaygeon & Buckhorn
Independently owned and operated the Oak Shores Estates Community Centre hosts a variety of weekly and bi-weekly events. Fully licensed by the AGCO (LCBO). Seating capacity for 70 and available to general public for rental. Please visit the website for information on location, rental, and regularly scheduled or planned special events.

Municipally Owned Public Beaches:
 

There are two municipally owned beaches in the Township. Both are unsupervised. Sandy Beach is located at A. Shearer Park, Lakehurst Road (County Road 37). There is an upper parking lot above the beach area and also an overflow parking area a short walk north of the beach. Please, DO NOT PARK, STOP, LOAD or UNLOAD at the edge of the County Road in the beach vicinity. The other municipally owned beach is the Crowe's Line Beach and is located down Crowe's Line Road off County Road 36.

Note: Pets are not permitted on the beach areas, please be kind to your pet and leave it in the comfort of your home or cottage. Dogs can be seized at the discretion of the Animal Control Officer if found on the public beach areas regardless of whether they are being a nuisance or not.

The Peterborough City County Health Unit samples the water at selected public beaches during the swimming season and posts the results on their website or you can call (705) 743-1000.

 

Buckhorn Outdoor Rink/Sports Pad
 

The Buckhorn Outdoor Skating Rink and Sports Pad is owned by  the Township of Galway-Cavendish and Harvey on land leased at the Buckhorn Community Centre.

8 - 11 a.m. Family & Public Skating
11 a.m. - 12 noon Senior Skating
12 noon - 4 p.m. Family Skate & Public Skating
4 - 6 p.m. Shinny - All Ages
6 - 7 p.m. Family & Public Skating
7 - 8 p.m. Shinny - All Ages
8:30 - 11 p.m. Extreme Shinny

Weekends - Saturday and Sunday
8 a.m - 2 p.m. Family & Public Skating
2 - 4 p.m.

Open Skate (NO Games, please
do not occupy entire ice surface)

4 - 6 p.m. Shinny - All Ages
6 - 7:30 p.m. Public Skating
7:30 - 9 p.m. Shinny - All Ages
9 - 11 p.m. Extreme Shinny


Please note at any time there could be ice resurfacing.  Please pick up all pucks, remove nets, and vacate ice surface. Please respect the volunteers that maintain our Sports Pad.

Extreme Shinny:
This time slot is for more advanced hockey games. Please allow everyone to join in and include everyone in this game. This time is not designated for Public/Pleasure Skating. Only if there is no game are you free to pleasure skate.

Shinny:
This time slot is for all people to play hockey games. Please allow everyone to join in and include everyone in the games. This time is not desigated for Public/Pleasure Skating. Only if there are no hockey games are you free to pleasure skate.

Open:
The 'Open' time slots are available to play hockey or related activities without dominating the entire ice surface. This will allow people to enjoy skating with pucks and playing/practicing with their children. Please do not dominate the ice. This time is not for a full game, only practicing/developing of hockey skills. One (1) net on the ice is preferred, not two (2).

Family & Public Skate:
No Nets, No Sticks, No Pucks! This time has been slotted for pleasure skating ONLY.
